about fernie

Skiing in Canada offers stunning scenery.
There is superb quality and quantity of annual snowfall.
The atmosphere is friendly and there are no language barriers. Customer services are excellent.

The award wining resort of Fernie, formerly known as "Snow Valley", is 3.5 hours from Calgary International airport and 1 hour from Cranbrook airport. Fernie is in the heart of B.C wilderness corridor, spanning the beautiful “Elk Valley” and the un-spoilt grandeur of the Canadian Rockies.
Originally, Fernie was a bustling mining town in the late 1800's. Much of its original character remains and can be seen in the numerous historical buildings.

The ski hill, located 3 km from the town, is famous for its amazing annual snowfalls (875cms on average). Its “snow guarantee” is above that of any other resort in the Canadian Rockies due to its unique positioning within a delicate micro-climate. To this day, Fernie is proud not to be overrun by mass tourism, offering more overall space, freedom of the slopes, and rarely any lift line-ups. These factors maximize skiing and riding time.
