About Fernie

Skiing in Canada offers stunning scenery.
There is superb quality and quantity of annual snowfall.
The atmosphere is friendly and there are no language barriers.
Customer services are excellent.

Formerly known as "Snow Valley", Fernie is 3.5 hours from Calgary International airport and 1 hour from Cranbrook airport. Fernie is in the heart of B.C wilderness corridor, spanning the beautiful Elk Valley and the unspoiled grandeur of the Canadian Rockies. In the late 1800's Fernie was a bustling mining town. Much of its original character remains and can be seen in the historical downtown.

The ski hill, located 4 km from the town, is famous for its amazing annual snowfalls (875 cm or 37 ft on average). It's "snow guarantee" above that of any other resort in the Canadian Rockies due to its unique positioning within a delicate micro-climate. To this day, Fernie is proud not to be overrun by mass tourism, offering more overall space, freedom of the slopes, and rarely any lift line-ups. These factors maximize skiing and riding time.
