Guiding

This is a unique service offered to Canadian Powder Tour guests which is not available with any other operator. As locals to Fernie, having been an integral part of the resort's development, our terrain knowledge is second-to-none with many areas explored by hiking and touring before they became accessible by ski-lifts. This knowledge is key so we can experience fresh tracks in the areas and bowls that are about to open after a big dump, giving you the thrill of being the first to shred down a vast, untouched bowl of powder! Also to access areas of near perfect conditions even days after new snowfalls.

Trust in us and our experience as knowledgeable locals!

The chalet guiding is aimed towards the higher intermediate level of skier/rider. The resort offers a complimentary hosting service for lower intermediate levels mostly on blue and green runs . This service is highly praised and allows groups, families and couples to meet up for lunch while always having ski companions.

The guiding is one of the main reasons we see a 70% repeat guests annually. The quality of terrain accessed would require expensive backcountry guides in European resorts. Visitors could not experience the same terrain and hidden runs by following a map. Our guiding provides the true ski/riding adrenaline adventure we wish our guests to enjoy. Guiding does not venture out of bounds but there are numerous small hikes to remote corners.

Cat Skiing/Boarding

Cat skiing/boarding is available as a day or multi day trip. Guests are picked up at the chalet at 7:45am and return at 5pm. The backcountry adventure accesses a variety of terrain from ridges, glades , bowls and meadows. Guests can expect between 7-11 runs per day of fresh powder. A day spent cat skiing/boarding is truly memorable and potentially addictive!

Heli Skiing/Boarding

The nearest Heli-skiing/riding is at the breathtaking Purcell Mountains is a 3.5 hour drive from Fernie. We can organize this as a day trip. We do recommend an overnight stay so you can really enjoy the adrenaline and magical aura.

Avalanche Courses

If you want to venture into the mountains then this programm offers a first step to safety in the backcountry. Topics covered are terrain recognition, climatology, snow stability, elevation, touring practices, search and rescue techniques. It is split between 2 evenings in the classroom and a day training in the field. SNOWMOBILE specific courses are also available. This course can fit around your holiday and pre booking is required on set dates.

Backcountry Touring

Backcountry touring can be arranged but must be pre booked. Additional guides and good functioning touring equipment will be required and can be rented daily.
